The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mauro Vieira, stated this Thursday (16) that he had a “very productive” conversation with the Secretary of State of the United States, Marco Rubio, during a meeting at the White House.
The meeting, which lasted approximately 1h15, addressed important topics for the bilateral relationship, with emphasis on the 50% tariff imposed by the USA on Brazilian products.
Vieira highlighted that most of the meeting was attended by advisors, but that he and Rubio had a 20-minute private moment to deal directly with the issues.

In addition to pricing, the conversation also involved other strategic points for the bilateral partnership, with the participation of members of the White House commercial representative team, the State Department and the Brazilian Embassy.
According to the minister, a “constructive attitude” prevailed, marked by cooperation and mutual respect, which signals a positive resumption of negotiations between the two countries.
The meeting takes place at a time of expectation for a meeting between presidents Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and Donald Trump.

Mauro Vieira stated that the meeting should take place in November, although there is still no definition of date and location.
