Ace Frehley, who died this Thursday (16), was one of the founders of the band Kiss — along with Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley and Peter Criss. The star, however, left the group for a few periods and created his own band, Frehley’s Comet.

“In his final moments, we were fortunate to be able to surround him with loving, caring and peaceful words, thoughts, prayers and intentions as he left this Earth,” the family said in a statement sent to the magazine.
Who was Ace Frehley?
Paul Daniel Frehley, known as Ace Frehley, was born in the Bronx, New York, USA. Before joining the successful group, the guitarist played in several smaller bands between the late 1960s and early 1970s.
Ace Frehley played with Kiss from its inception in 1973 until 1982, and again during its reunion period in 1996, after 13 years, for the “Reunion Tour”, which saw the band’s original lineup reunite. In 2001, he said goodbye to the group again.
Between one break and another, he founded his own band, called Frehley’s Comet.
In addition to being a guitarist, the star also composed some classic Kiss fan favorites such as “Cold Gin”, “Parasite”, “Shock Me”, “Talk to Me”, and contributed to hits such as “Detroit Rock City”, “I Was Made for Lovin’ You” and “Rock and Roll All Nite”.
Over the past two decades, the guitarist has gone on solo tours several times. His most recent show took place last month at the Uptown Theater in Providence, Rhode Island, with Frehley. He is the first original member of the band Kiss to die.
