On Thursday, after arriving in Washington, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi expressed hope that the impetus resulting from reaching a peace agreement in the Middle East will help end the war in Ukraine. He is convinced that, as against the Palestinian militant movement Hamas, an attitude based on force will inevitably work in relation to Russia. TASR informs about it according to the report of the AFP agency.

“We can already see that Moscow is rushing to resume dialogue as soon as it hears about the Tomahawks,” wrote Zelenskyy, referring to US missiles on the X network, after US President Donald Trump announced a meeting with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, in Budapest.

The Ukrainian leader arrived in Washington for a meeting with Trump at the White Housewhich will take place on Friday. In addition, on Thursday, he will have meetings with representatives of arms and energy companies, possibly also with congressmen and senators.

“We expect that the counter-terrorism and war push that has succeeded in the Middle East will help end Russia’s war against Ukraine. Putin is certainly no bolder than Hamas or any other terrorist. The language of strength and justice will inevitably work against Russia as well.” said Zelenskyi.

Negotiations with Trump will focus on strengthening Ukrainian air defenses and the possibility of strikes deep in the Russian interior. Zelenskyy said that during phone calls in recent days, he presented Trump with a vision of the number of Tomahawk missiles that Ukraine needs to continue military operations against Russia.

The head of the White House warned on Sunday that he could deliver Tomahawks to Kiev if Moscow does not end the war in Ukraine. Putin said that the delivery of these missiles to Kiev would jeopardize the peaceful resolution of the conflict in Ukraine.
