The state Public Ministry () closed, this Friday (17/10), a clandestine shelter for drug addicts, located in the neighborhood of Represa, in Ribeirão Pires, in .
During the inspection, the teams found nine inmates at the scene. All were sent to their families or transferred to other clinics, depending on the decision of each person responsible. The names of the inmates and the facility were not released by authorities.
The operation was conducted by the MPSP, headed by prosecutor Jonathan Vieira de Azevedo. In addition to the Public Ministry, several municipal departments participated — Health; Climate, Environment and Housing; Urban Security, Mobility and Civil Defense; and Assistance, Participation and Social Inclusion.
Irregularity notification
- According to the prosecutor’s office, the location had already been notified in August of this year, but began operating irregularly again, failing to comply with court orders.
- The space, according to the prosecutor, operated without authorization and without adequate hygiene, coexistence and safety conditions for those hosted.

He highlighted the joint work between municipal bodies and the MPSP. The action was part of a series of inspections to ensure compliance with sanitary, health and posture standards in establishments in the municipality.
The Health Secretary of Ribeirão Pires, Clóvis Volpi, reinforced the municipal management’s commitment to rigorous supervision of this type of activity. “Inspections will continue with the aim of curbing irregular practices and ensuring the safety and well-being of the population”, stated the portfolio holder.
