On All Saints’ Day, he visits the graves of the dead, placing candles and chrysanthemums or other flowers on the slabs. When going to masses at the cemetery, which usually last a while, many people choose their outfits carefully. Coats, dresses, jackets, berets – the choice is huge. However, one element, if superstitions are to be believed, should not be included in styling. It may bring bad luck to us.
During the current All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day, Dziady was celebrated in pre-Christian times (from the night of October 31 to November 1), as in the case of other Slavic holidays, they were surrounded by numerous superstitions, some of them were reflected in the 21st century, others became the basis for slightly more “modern” superstitions. Most of them talked about bad luck, due to the type of holiday – breaking the prohibitions was supposed to bring misfortune to us.
Of course, sometimes there were superstitions about ensuring one’s good fortune, e.g. putting out bowls of food on the night of Dziady, it was supposed to help the souls eat and protect the household. But Superstitions about lack of prosperity prevailedone talks about a certain item of clothing. It’s better not to wear this on All Saints’ Day.

In particular, the shoes could not have been worn before, this could mean that they were entering the afterlife, so they needed new shoes. Which is why When going to a cemetery, you should not wear new shoes. It is definitely better to wear them at least once to the store, work or for a walk, and only then go to graves in them. According to superstition, wearing new shoes can bring misfortune that will accompany us throughout the next year. Many people believe that choosing such shoes is tempting fate.
Of course, these are just superstitions, but from a practical point of view, it is also better to choose well-worn and well-fitting footwear – it will be more comfortable and we will not be exposed to possible bad luck, which is often worn at home.
