Hotel industry takes stock: “Algarve is the star of the summer of 2025”

The Portuguese Hotel Association (AHP) made a positive assessment of the summer this Wednesday, with the occupancy rate remaining stable at 81% and the average price per room rising slightly, to 161 euros.

The results of the AHP “Summer Balance 2025” survey, relating to the period between June and September, state that the “Algarve is the star of the summer of 2025”, according to the executive vice-president of AHP, Cristina Siza Vieira.

The average price per room in the Algarve rose to 206 euros and the occupancy rate to 88%, maintaining price leadership, while Lisbon maintained the average price per room at 176 euros, with the average occupancy rising to 86%.

“We are entering a plateau in Lisbon and we will not see an increase in either the occupancy rate or the price”, stated the vice-president of AHP.

Cristina Siza Vieira highlighted Lisbon airport as one of the obstacles to the growth of stays in the city, taking into account that the structure is already operating at its limit.

“It doesn’t seem to me that the hotel industry’s tendency will be to lower prices”, said the director when faced with the stagnation in Lisbon.

Coming down are the Azores, whose occupancy rate dropped to 86%, however, the average price per room rose to 143 euros.

In the same vein, the central region also saw its occupancy rate reduced to 56%, however the average price per room increased to 109 euros.

According to survey data from , the average price per room rose in all regions of the country with the exception of Lisbon.

The region with the highest occupancy rate was once again the Autonomous Region of Madeira with 91%.
