The minister, of the Federal Supreme Court (), ordered the former president’s defense to explain, within five days, the reason why his electronic ankle bracelet was turned off for a day and a half. Collor is currently serving his sentence at home. According to the Alagoas Electronic People Monitoring Center, the equipment ran out of battery from 9:05 am on May 2nd until 9:23 pm the following day.

The episode occurred on Collor’s first day under house arrest, after a week in a prison in Alagoas. Moraes stated that, if there is no justification within the deadline, Collor’s house arrest may be revoked. Furthermore, the State Secretariat for Resocialization and Social Inclusion of Alagoas has 48 hours to explain why the STF was only informed about the non-compliance five months later, in a report sent on October 15th.

Collor is serving a sentence of eight years and ten months for passive corruption and money laundering, resulting from a scheme investigated at BR Distribuidora during . In April 2025, after rejecting a defense appeal, Moraes authorized the former president to serve his sentence under house arrest, due to his age and health condition.

Under house arrest, Collor can only receive visits from family members, regularly appointed lawyers and medical staff, and cannot travel. Your passport has been suspended and cannot be renewed for the duration of the regime.
