Puff pastry with jam resembling beautiful, rustic envelopes. These are quick and simple sweet snacks that will please both small and large gourmets. By using ready-made puff pastry, you can prepare the whole thing in just a few moments, in an extremely simple way. The recipe uses apricot jam as the most traditional flavor combination, but you can also use other favorite preserves.
To prepare the dough, you will need:
- 1 sheet of puff pastry,
- 100 g apricot jam,
- ½ teaspoon of potato flour,
- 1 egg.
Additionally:
- powdered sugar for sprinkling.
Instead of jam, you can add jam to the inside of the cookies chocolate cream, peanut butter and banana slices, pan-roasted apples with cinnamon, or other favorite jam, jam or preserves. It all depends on what you have in the kitchen or what flavors you like best.
In a bowl, combine the jam and potato flour until smooth.
Unfold a sheet of puff pastry on the kitchen counter. Cut the dough into 6 equal rectangles.
Divide each of the six rectangles optically into three parts: the middle and two side parts. Place a thin layer of apricot jam on the center of each rectangle.
On the two side parts of the rectangles, cut diagonal cuts with a knife, resembling the strips of blinds, leaving a margin of about 1 cm at the edge.
Assemble the cake by first placing one side with the slits for the jam, then the other side, stretching the strips slightly. The stripes should create a braided effect on top. Press the sides to seal the filling tightly.
Place the cookies on a baking tray lined with baking paper.
Brush the surface of the dough with beaten egg and then put it in the oven preheated to 200 degrees Celsius. Bake them for 15-20 minutes until nicely browned.
After removing from the oven, set the cookies aside to cool.
Sprinkle puff pastry with jam with powdered sugar before serving.
