The president of the USA, in 2017, jokingly asked the leaders of Brazil and Argentina to invade , during a casual meeting at the UN General Assembly, in New York.
The suggestion was made to the then leaders of the South American countries, , and Mauricio Macri, who were talking in a room during the event. At the time, Trump was in the first year of his first term.
“So, when are you going to invade Venezuela, huh?”, the American said to the pair, according to Temer’s recollection. The phrase was seen as bravado.
Currently in his second term, Trump has taken the scenario of military action against the Nicolás Maduro regime more seriously, and without outsourcing the operation. He admitted that he instructed the CIA to initiate actions to destabilize the Venezuelan dictatorship.
