US President Donald Trump during the Friday meeting with told Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that he has no intention of providing Ukraine with long-range Tomahawk missiles yetas he prefers diplomacy. TASR informs about this based on a report by the Axios portal referring to two unnamed sources familiar with the content of the meeting between the two presidents.

The portal Axios states that Zelensky hoped to leave Washington with the promise of new weapons for Ukraine, but it turned out that Trump was in a completely different mood the day after a long phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

According to sources at Axios, Trump made it clear that his the priority now is diplomacy, and he believes that providing Kiev with Tomahawk missiles could undermine it.

One of the sources said that the meeting of the presidents “was not easy”, another even described it as “bad”. “No one yelled, but Trump was tough,” one source said. At some moments there was a negotiation “a bit emotional”he added.

After the meeting with Trump, Zelenskyi said that they also discussed the delivery of long-range missiles, but they agreed not to talk about it publicly yetbecause the US does not want an escalation of the conflict. Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform after the meeting that both sides should stop fighting and accept the current battle line, a stance the Ukrainian president has rejected in the past.
