United States denies Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine before Trump-Putin meeting

After yesterday’s meeting between Trump and Zelensky at the White House, Ukrainians believe that little or nothing has progressed towards peace. Former politicians and people on the street say they believe that Putin does not, in fact, want to stop the invasion and conquest of territory in Ukraine.

Zelensky wanted North American Tomahawk missiles for Ukraine as a form of pressure and even a brake against the Russian offensive. Trump said, however, that it is military equipment that the United States needs to protect the country.

At the meeting, at the White House, the Ukrainian President insisted on issues such as the desire for a ceasefire and for Russia to vacate invaded territories. But Trump insisted on parallel themes such as the repetitive note about Zelensky’s clothing.

The President of the United States announced as big news that he will have in the coming weeks. In Ukraine, the news was received without any enthusiasm.

On the street, Ukrainians question what kind of diplomacy can be effective when on the other side of the table is Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The opinion of the political offices of those who have dealt a lot with the Russian President is the same.

“The only message Putin is communicating is this: ‘I will pay any price, for as long as it takes, to win this war. What are you willing to pay and for how long?’ That is the question he is asking Europe and the United States of America. That’s all. Everything else we are seeing is just noise”, reiterates former Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba.

The former government official claims that the problem is that Trump and Putin can speak as many times as they want, which does not mean that they are negotiating. He also questions whether the North American president had already realized this.

Those who have already realized that Russia may not stop the war over Ukrainian territory are neighboring countries. In Romania, hundreds of military reservists returned to the shooting ranges to prepare for what could come.
