President of Casa, an NGO that helps refugees from the country in Brazil, Blanca Montilla says she is concerned about the persecution by the Nicolás Maduro dictatorship of opponents of the regime who live abroad.
Last Monday (13), two Venezuelan human rights activists living in Colombia were the target of a shooting attack. The fact was reported by
“This shows that no one is safe, not even us, who are in the diaspora. The dictatorship has its arms and allies everywhere”, says Montilla.
Recently, there was also information that the Maduro regime murdered a dissident soldier who had sought refuge in Chile.
In this context, says Montilla, Brazil has been exemplary in the treatment given to Venezuelans, since the beginning of Operation Acolhida, in Roraima, during the Michel Temer (MDB) government.
“Brazil is a model for the world of what it means to be receptive to people fleeing Venezuela. Operação Acolhida works perfectly, no matter what the government is,” he states. Currently, around 340 Venezuelans per day cross the border into Brazil fleeing the Chavista regime.
Montilla also praises, including military movements. “Maduro is a narco government. We welcome US actions aimed at combating trafficking,” he says.
