Zelensky: “We talked about Tomahawk, but we won’t say more”

Ukraine’s president, , said that in his meeting with him they discussed “long-range weapons”, referring to Tomahawk missiles, but the two sides agreed not to make further statements on the matter.

“The United States does not want there to be an escalation,” the Ukrainian leader said, thanking Trump and “the United States team” for their support.

“Territorial is a sensitive issue”

Asked whether he has confidence in the US president’s ability to put pressure on Vladimir Putin, Zelensky replied:

“The messages sent by the Russians are not new. But we rely on President Trump, on the pressure he can put on Putin, to stop this war.”
Zelensky added that he believes Trump “understands that the most difficult issue in any talks will be that of territories.”

Ukraine’s president told reporters that he briefed Kiev’s “strategic allies” after the meeting. Among them were the president of the Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, the president of the European Council, Antonio Costa, the prime ministers of Britain, Italy, Poland, Finland, and also the president of France.

Finally, he clarified that the two leaders did not discuss the Ukrainian strikes on Russian energy facilities.
