The Louvre Museum, in Paris (France), was the victim this Sunday morning of a robbery in which there were no injuries, as announced by the French Minister of Culture, Rachida Dati. The museum has been closed for the entire day.
In a message on his X account, Dati has indicated that the robbery occurred at the time of the opening of the Louvre and that he traveled there.
In its X account, the institution has not gone into details and has only indicated that it will be closed this Sunday “for exceptional reasons.”
It is officially unknown if the assailants have managed to steal any works of art or valuable objects. It states that the criminals, who were hooded, entered the building using a forklift to directly access the room they were targeting, in the Apolo Gallery.
“After breaking the windows, two men entered the building, while a third remained outside. The thieves stole nine pieces from Napoleon and the Empress’ jewelry collection: a necklace, a brooch, a tiara and more,” they maintain. EFE details that the assault would have taken place around 9:45 in the morning.

The Louvre is one of the best-known and most visited museums in the world. Last year it received 8.7 million visitors, many of them attracted by such iconic pieces as Leonardo Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa.
