After almost a month, UPA invaded by criminals will be reopened in Rio

The mayor of Rio de Janeiro, Eduardo Paes (PSD), announced the return of activities at UPA Costa Barros, in the North zone of Rio, during a visit to the unit held this Saturday (18). Operation was stopped after a bandits invaded the site on the morning of September 30th.

During the visit, Eduardo Paes reinforced the commitment of the Municipal Health Department and the state government together with public security forces in protecting health professionals and patients who attend the unit.

Remember the case

Two armed men invaded the Costa Barros Emergency Care Unit on the morning of September 30, searching for rivals who had been shot. In the episode,who also threatened UPA professionals.

Activities were interrupted after this and other cases of violence were recorded, including the shooting death of a man in the unit’s parking lot and the shooting attack on a doctor’s car.

As a measure, the Municipal Health Department sent letters to the State Departments of Public Security and Military Police requesting security guarantees for the operation of public health units.
