Carlos Miguel debuted in Palmeiras’ goal against Flamengo this Sunday (10/19). The goalkeeper, signed from Nottingham Forest, has a contract with the São Paulo team until July 31, 2030. Sporting News provides details about the player.
Carlos Miguel: who he is and market value
Signed in the last transfer window and the most expensive goalkeeper in the club’s history, Carlos Miguel won the dispute with Marcelo Lomba for the starting spot in the Alviverde goal.
The number 1 had not yet played since he was announced in August. The club invested 5.5 million euros (R$34.7 million at current prices) to take him from Nottingham Forest, and will be able to pay another 500,000 euros in bonuses (R$3.1 million) for the 27-year-old, 2.04 meter tall athlete.
The player began his career at Internacional, where he played for the youth teams until 2019. He was loaned to Santa Cruz and Boa Esporte, where he made his professional debut.
There were eight games and then came the contract with Corinthians, the club where he played for four seasons. Although he was not an absolute starter, he showed confidence in the opportunities he received and became popular with the fans.
In 2024, the goalkeeper was traded to Nottingham Forest, from England. The transition, however, did not happen as expected. Carlos Miguel had few opportunities at the English club and was unable to establish himself as a starter, which paved the way for a quick return to Brazil.
Without playing since February, when he was still in England, the goalkeeper could have a series of games as a starter, as Weverton’s hand problem should leave him out of the team for a few weeks.
