The Minister of Finance, , stated this Saturday night (18), that the Insurance Contract Law (Law nº 15 040/2024), sanctioned by the president last year, will make a “great contribution” to the development of the country. The statement was made during the closing speech of the X International Congress of Insurance Law, organized by the Brazilian Institute of Insurance Law, in São Paulo.
“The approval of the new insurance legislation is a historic milestone. It strengthens insurance rights, creates a more competitive and predictable environment for companies, opens up space for innovation, integrates the sector and helps national development”, highlighted Haddad. “It is not just a legal reform, it is an economic reform that helps build a more modern, productive and resilient country”, added the minister.

Haddad highlighted that the insurance sector is one of the few that clearly expresses the relationship between the economy and social stability. “When insurance works well, the economy works better,” he said. The minister classified the sector as a “silent pillar of development”, essential as infrastructure and fiscal balance. The head of Finance also stated that the new legislation, created in conjunction with Congress, symbolizes a “true silent revolution” in the insurance market. And that, like tax reform, should last for decades.

Haddad once again repeated the government’s institutional speech, of commitment to balancing public accounts. On the one hand, he highlighted that the government is restoring fiscal credibility with responsibility and transparency. On the other hand, he highlighted that microeconomic reforms are underway to make the business environment more competitive and dynamic.
