The season for dressing fruit is now underway. Among the jams and mousses, we have forgotten what natural vinegar is for the body. Meanwhile, in the winter months, apple and quince vinegar will not only strengthen your immunity. They will accelerate the burning of unnecessary kilograms and will be a perfect, natural replacement for spirit vinegar.
Apples and plums are the flagship autumn fruits, but it is also worth remembering the forgotten ones. For example, common quince, one of the oldest plants cultivated by man. It looks a bit like an apple or a pear, but it is harder and has an unusual aroma. It also has countless health properties. It is worth remembering the recipe for quince vinegar, which has many more health properties.
The recipe for quince vinegar is very similar to the recipe for homemade apple cider vinegar:
Ingredients:
- a kilogram of quince,
- 4 heaping tablespoons of regular, cane or birch sugar,
- 1.5 liters of boiled water,
- a few tablespoons of homemade vinegar or vinegar mother.
Preparation method:
- Wash the quince, remove the seeds and cut into pieces. Place them in a glass or ceramic dish.
- Pour water over the fruit so that it is completely covered. Add sugar or honey, as well as vinegar mother or a few tablespoons of fruit vinegar.
- Cover the vessel with gauze or a thin cloth to allow air to enter and place it in a dark, warm place.
- Stir the contents daily to prevent mold from forming on the surface. The fermentation process takes about 4-6 weeks. When the vinegar is ready, filter it through cheesecloth into bottles, cork tightly and store in a cool place.
Quince vinegar is sometimes called the vinegar of youth. This is due to its content. We mainly find vitamin C, which supports immunity. Vitamin B has a beneficial effect on the nervous system, and vitamin A is beneficial for the eyesight and skin condition. If we add elements contained in the product such as magnesium, potassium and iron, this vinegar turns out to be salvation for the muscles, heart and the entire circulatory system.
Due to the fact that the preparation of quince vinegar does not require high temperatures, more vitamins are preserved in it. Its production is based on fermentation processes, thanks to which it becomes a natural probiotic that supports intestinal function. It also lowers the level of bad cholesterol and triglycerides and supports digestion. Its consumption quenches the feeling of hunger and accelerates metabolism, which is important for people who care about their weight.
Quince vinegar supports the health of our body, but this does not mean that it can be consumed in unlimited quantities. It should be a supplement to the diet, not its basis. If you want to consume it as a means of supporting immunity and weight loss, always dilute it with water in a ratio of 2 tablespoons per glass of water. Such a vinegar shot before a meal increases the production of hydrochloric acid and digestive enzymes in the stomach, which promotes better digestion of food.
Quince vinegar also has many culinary uses. You can use it to acidify soups and season sauces, wherever you use spirit vinegar or lemon..
