Original guitarist for the rock band Kiss, Ace Frehley died Thursday (16) from a brain hemorrhage caused by a recent fall at his studio in New Jersey, United States.

The 74-year-old artist’s statement was confirmed by Lori Lousararian, Frehley’s representative, this Sunday (19), according to Rolling Stone magazine.

The fall occurred weeks earlier at his home and the impact would have caused a serious brain bleed, according to the magazine. Frehley went and started breathing with the help of machines, but did not show significant improvement.

“In his final moments, we were fortunate to surround him with loving, thoughtful and peaceful words, thoughts, prayers and intentions as he left this Earth,” the family said in a statement to Rolling Stone.

According to the TMZ portal, close sources revealed that the musician remained in this condition until his family decided to face the worsening of his clinical condition.

Career

He was one of the founders of Kiss — along with Paul Stanley and Peter Criss. He was the group’s guitarist from 1973 to 1982, but left the group after creative differences and substance abuse problems.

A few years later, he founded his own band, Frehley’s Comet, with which he released the famous single “Into the Night”.

He returned to play with Kiss in 1996, after 13 years, for the “Reunion Tour”, which saw the band’s original lineup reunite. In 2001, he said goodbye to the group again.

Frehley was active and on the road until he had an accident in the studio. But a statement was posted on Frehley’s social media a week before his death and announced the cancellation of his tour.

“Due to some ongoing medical issues, Ace has made the difficult decision to cancel the remainder of his 2025 dates,” the note read.
