The new headquarters of the Rio Branco City Council may no longer be inaugurated in November, as initially planned. The information was confirmed by the president of the House, councilor Joabe Lira, in an interview with ContilNet.
According to him, the construction is 85% complete, but there are still important steps to be taken internally, such as the installation of furniture, IT and multimedia systems, which should postpone delivery until the end of the year.

“The work is well advanced, but we still have the internal phase to finish. So, it is not possible to set a date. It is expected to be completed by the end of this year, but the official inauguration and the start of legislative work should take place at the beginning of next year”, explained Joabe.
With this, the councilors will end 2025 still in the current building, which is rented, and will only begin activities in 2026 in the new structure.
“Our objective is that, in the next legislative year, we will be operating in the new headquarters. The 2025 sessions end here, and the 2026 sessions will begin there”, stated the president.
This will be the first headquarters of the Rio Branco Chamber in more than 60 years of foundation. The new building, built on an area of 2,700 square meters, will have parking, modern rooms and adequate space to receive parliamentarians, civil servants and the public.
Currently, the Chamber operates in a rented space considered too small for the demands of the 21 councilors. Rio Branco is the only capital in the country without its own seat for the municipal Legislature.
The work, which began in March 2023, has a total investment of R$27 million, coming from resources from City Hall and parliamentary amendments.
If everything goes according to the new schedule, Rio Branco City Council should complete construction in 2025 and officially begin its activities in the new building at the beginning of 2026.
