In New York, local police estimated the presence of 100,000 people in the city’s 5 districts, with no record of arrests. The main concentrations were held in Washington, San Francisco, San Diego, Atlanta, Houston, Honolulu, Boston, Kansas City, Bozeman, Chicago and New Orleans.

Origin of the movement

O “No Kings” appeared on June 14, 2025, the date of Trump’s birthday and the 250th anniversary of the United States Army. On that occasion, the group held its first day of protests, in response to the military parade promoted by the government.

Since then, organizers have stated that the movement symbolizes the defense of North American democracy. In a statement, the group said: “This isn’t just politics. It’s democracy versus dictatorship. And together, we are choosing democracy.”
