It was with extreme irony that the President of the United States, Donald Trump, reacted to the “No Kings” demonstration, which took over hundreds of American cities this Saturday. On his Truth Social network, the Republican reposted videos created by artificial intelligence and sent by supporters in which he appears symbolically wearing a crown.
In one of these videos, Trump is flying a fighter plane with the phrase “King Trump” printed on it and “bombards” protesters with a shower of feces. In another, he wears a crown and robe and wields a sword as music with the words “hail the king” plays and former Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and others bow to him.
Even the official White House account joined in the fun and posted an image on social media with Trump and Vice President JD Vance wearing crowns, above an image of the Democratic House Minority Leader, Hakeen Jeffries, and the Senate Minority Leader, Chuck Schumer, wearing sombreros. “We are built differently,” the White House wrote when sharing the image.

According to protesters’ accounts, 2,700 rallies took place across the country to protest Trump’s policies, in addition to defending constitutional rights to freedom of expression and assembly. “No Kings” organizers estimated that 7 million people attended the rallies.
The New York City Police Department said more than 100,000 people “peacefully” attended protests in the most populous city in the United States and said no arrests related to the protest had been made.
