The vice-governor of Minas Gerais, Mateus Simões, confirmed his migration from Novo to O and is expected to make the change to Gilberto Kassab’s acronym official at an event in Belo Horizonte next Monday (27).
In the last elections, the Zema and Simões ticket defeated a PSD candidate, Alexandre Kalil, in the second round, who in turn transferred to the PDT.
Zema intends to launch Simões into the Minas Gerais government as his successor, now with the support of Kassab’s party. The lieutenant governor is an ally of ().
In Minas, however, the senator, also from the PSD, is considered a pre-candidate for the government.
Pacheco’s candidacy has the support of the president (PT) and there is an expectation that the former president of the PSD will leave the PSD if he contests the elections — he is one of those tipped to receive Lula’s nomination as minister of the STF (Supreme Federal Court) and has the support of fellow senators.
