Water your vegetable garden with this in October. The harvest will be as great as ever

Cleaning works in the plots and gardens are gaining momentum. Harvesting crops, pruning plants and protecting them against negative temperatures are commonplace, but unfortunately many people forget about soil care during this time. It is crucial for next year’s crops. Fortunately, it is not too late to improve its quality.

After an intensive period of plant vegetation, the soil is also preparing to rest, so it is worth taking care of its strengthening. Thanks to this its structure and aeration will improveand the amount of organic matter will also increase, which will result in the plants will have a better start in the next season.

To this end, a key step is removing leaf remnants and any remains of vegetable plants from the soil. This way you will prevent the development of many diseases and the establishment of pests. You can also apply soil mulching, so that organic matter can “enter” the soil well.

First, however, you need to ensure its proper enrichment. It’s best to do it in the fall and in the spring the soil was fertile and ready for planting new plants. The traditional solution is spreading compost or manurewhich are intended to improve the soil structure. Thanks to this, it is better aerated, retains water well and promotes the growth of valuable microelements necessary for plants.

What if you don’t have access to manure or compost and want to fertilize the soil in the fall? Nothing is lost, because for these traditional solutions, there is a natural alternative based on herbs. In this way, you can take care of the soil quality without using traditional fertilizers.

For this purpose, it is worth reaching for, among others: nettle, which is rich in nitrogen, magnesium, iron and potassium. Its quickly decomposing leaves enrich the soil with minerals. The situation is similar in the case of such herbs such as mugwort or Japanese millet, which leaves behind valuable organic compounds.

In order to produce such fertilizer just crush the selected herbs thoroughly and pour water over them. If left for a few or a dozen days (5-14), they will ferment. This will create an extract that should be used in the flower beds. It will provide the soil with valuable ingredients, such as phosphorus and nitrogen. These will ensure healthy and lush growth of vegetables next season. It’s simple to make a treatment that you can do in October. You will thank yourself next season when you harvest larger and more abundant crops.
