The report will only be updated if there is a change in the patient’s health status; text goes to the Senate
The Chamber’s (Constitution, Justice and Citizenship Committee) approved a proposal that establishes the permanent validity of the medical report diagnosing fibromyalgia, being updated only if there is a change in the patient’s health status. The approved text will go to the Senate, unless there is an appeal for a vote in the plenary.
Fibromyalgia is a chronic syndrome that manifests itself through persistent pain throughout the body, mainly in the joints and muscles. In addition to pain, the disease causes fatigue, sleep disorders, depression and anxiety, among other symptoms.
On the recommendation of the rapporteur, deputy (PSD-RJ), the PL (bill), by former deputy Nitinho (SE), currently on the bench, was approved with changes, in the form of the substitute for the Health Commission.
Laura Carneiro stated that, originally, the project had imperfections, such as encroaching on the powers of the Executive Branch and proposing a new law instead of modifying the standard () that already defines rules for the care of people with the disease in the SUS (Unified Health System).
“The opinion of the Health Commission corrected these problems”said the rapporteur.
