The National Dispute Resolution Chamber (CNRD), the body responsible for brokering agreements between clubs, athletes and businesspeople, punished the club with a transfer ban after the club delayed a new installment of the purchase from the club. The São Paulo club had until Friday (17th) to pay around R$780,000 to the people of Mato Grosso. The total value of the transfer is approximately R$18 million. Corinthians claims that the deadline may extend for another five working days after the due date. The club guarantees that the installment will be paid this week, between Wednesday and Thursday. It is the second time that Corinthians has not met the date for the settlement of a portion of the player’s purchase. The first was in July, when Cuiabá complained to the CNRD, the CBF body responsible for brokering agreements between clubs, athletes and businesspeople.

Corinthians is already suffering from the effects of another transfer ban, applied by FIFA. The punishment was caused by a debt of R$33 million with Santos Laguna for the purchase of defender Félix Torres. With interest, the value is around R$40 million. There was an attempt to reverse the decision at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), but the decision was maintained and, therefore, the São Paulo team is prevented from making signings for three transfer windows. Corinthians is still at risk of being punished in three other cases.

Talleres charges US$4.3 million (around R$23.3 million) for the sale of Rodrigo Garro; Paraguayan midfielder Matías Rojas claims R$40 million from the club in arrears; and Shakhtar Donetsk, from Ukraine, claims 1 million euros (R$6.3 million) for the loan of midfielder Maycon. All cases are awaiting appeal judgment at CAS.

Going through a serious financial crisis, with a total debt of R$2.7 billion, Corinthians made only two signings in 2025: left-back Angileri, signed at the end of February, and striker Vitinho, whose registration was made the day before the sanction that prevents the club from registering new athletes.
