There is money on the way: see what subsidies and support remain to be paid by Social Security in October

There may be a simple, often overlooked way to increase the pension you receive. The central idea is straightforward: correct the contributory career (years and earnings recorded) and ask Social Security to re-analyze the pension calculation based on these new elements. When there are missing deductions or remunerations in the register, updating may increase the value of the pension. In the general regime, the calculation is based on the reference remuneration and the number of years with remuneration records, as provided for in DL no. 187/2007 and Social Security itself.

What is the request and who can make it

The request consists, in practice, of correcting the remuneration/years record (when there are flaws or errors) and requesting a reanalysis of the pension calculation act (old age or survivors) with the new elements.

Any pensioner who identifies unaccounted periods or incorrectly recorded remuneration can do so. The legal basis for the calculation and factors (reference salary; global training rate up to 40 years) is in DL no. 187/2007 and in the official Social Security glossary.

Important note: the pensioner’s economic situation does not increase the contributory pension; It can, in fact, provide access to social supplements, such as the Solidarity Supplement for the Elderly (CSI), which increase monthly income, subject to proof of means.

The steps to follow to place the order

Confirm the contribution career in the (Contribution Career Declaration) and detect errors.

Request correction of the remuneration record: from the employer (when applicable) and/or from Social Security services, using the means provided for correcting remuneration declarations and attaching proof (contracts, receipts, etc.).

Request a reanalysis of the pension calculation (with the new records). In general terms of administrative procedure, the CPA (rectification of material errors, administrative revocation/annulment) can be invoked.

After delivery, Social Security recalculates the benefit if a decisive change is confirmed (e.g., years recognized late or remuneration adjusted). The effects follow the applicable regime: in the survivor’s pension, if requested up to 6 months after the death, they count from the month following the death; in other cases, they count from the legal date set in the decision.

What to keep in mind before proceeding

Check all years of registered discounts and remunerations; These are the data that are included in the reference remuneration and the overall pension formation rate (up to 40 years).

Consolidation deadlines: 10 years after granting the old-age/disability pension, the years and remuneration used become “closed”, only changeable by court ruling or retroactive payment of prescribed contributions (a rule that also applies, with adaptations, when the old-age pension serves as the basis for a survivor’s pension).

Is it worth doing?

Yes, if you detect discrepancies in the contribution career or poorly considered remuneration, correction and reanalysis may increase the value. It is not a complex process: it requires document organization and following official steps. To reinforce income due to low resources, there is also the CSI (autonomous request).
