Actress Elena Podzámska (53) opened Slovakia’s door to the most intimate moments of her life. On Saturday, October 18, in the program V siedem nebi on TV JOJ, together with moderator Vil Rozboril, she revealed her hidden troubles. A lack of acting opportunities and a struggle with addiction brought her to rock bottom, but she never gave up.
The former star of the series Panelák, Odsúdené or Sisters went through a period in the past that she would rather forget. „I became addicted to alcohol, drugs, benzodiazepines. That’s a killer combination. I didn’t want to live. I completely lost my appetite and motivation for life and wanted to leave, but fortunately, I realized that this will either be the end or a completely new beginning.” she stated in Seventh Heaven with tears in her eyes.
Today, she is an abstinent alcoholic, but in retrospect, she is very aware of why she gradually lost job offers. “Of course, I tried to control myself when it comes to work, but it gets out of hand. They can see it in you. Everyone can see it,” she admitted. In the most difficult period of her life, she moved to Prešov and did not tell anyone about it. Even her daughter Radka had no idea about it and turned to the police, who subsequently launched a search.
In the East, however, she found love and the security of a home with 43-year-old Jaroslav, whom she secretly married in February. It was he who should have contacted the Rozborila team in connection with his beloved, trying to help her in this way. The actress had a problem finding a job. “I am at the employment office. I receive 286 euros a month. In the current situation, I would accept some job. Of course, I would generally like to return to acting, but I cannot choose now,” clarified her current situation.
Thanks to the presenter and his show, she got a job as a receptionist in one of the prestigious hotels in Prešov. Although the new experience scares her a little, she is extremely grateful for it. She also received an offer for cooperation from the general director of the Košice National Theatre, Ondrej Šoth, in order to she could return to her beloved acting.
In the end, she also commented on her appearance on television on the social network, where she also published a picture in which she sends people a kiss.
