Vösendorf – Gabriele Scharrer was elected as the new mayor of Vösendorf (Mödling district) on Monday. The SPÖ politician received 19 of 31 valid votes in the constituent meeting. This means that the Social Democrats are once again the community leader after five years. At the polls in September, the ÖVP retained first place after a stir surrounding former mayor Hannes Koza, but lost the absolute majority of seats. The SPÖ and the Citizens’ List V2000 form a coalition.
