Plane with R$3 million worth of cell phones is seized in SC

One aircraft was seized with cargo valued at more than R$3 millionat Costa Esmeralda Airport, in Porto Belo (SC), this Monday morning (20). In total, 571 cell phones were located inside the plane.

The flight departed from the city of Foz do Iguaçu, in the interior of Paraná. The two were from the city of Paraná.

The items were located during an inspection operation of the Federal Revenue Smuggling and Embezzlement Suppression Teams, around 9 am. The single-engine plane, model RV-10, was approached and found inside the devices, which did not have the appropriate regular import verification.

During the action, the agents spotted a car parked in front of the hangar, and the pilot, with the help of a boy, pushing the plane into the hangar.

The two men were arrested and taken to the Federal Police Station, in Florianópolis, the state capital.

O The aircraft’s pilot had previously been arrested in January 2023when he was transporting 452 cell phones hidden in a false bag on the rear bumper of a car in the city of Ourinhos (SP). At the time, the cargo was valued at R$809 thousand.
