Minimum temperature in the State was 11.2 ºC; mark is the lowest since 2014, when 10.7 ºC was recorded
On Monday morning (20.Oct.2025), the city of São Paulo recorded a minimum temperature of 11.2 degrees Celsius, the lowest for October since 2014, when thermometers registered 10.7ºC.
According to the State Civil Defense, the record is the result of the passage of a cold front accompanied by winds and polar air mass.
To minimize possible damage, Civil Defense promoted the reception of people in a state of social vulnerability. One of the emergency actions is the activation of the Solidarity Shelter, a State government initiative that offers temporary shelter to the homeless population.
The reception point was set up at Pedro II Station, on Metro Line 3-Red. The initiative began operating at 7pm on Sunday (Oct 19) and will continue until Wednesday morning (Oct 22). Food, mattresses, blankets will be available, in addition to accepting pets.
Severe cold alerts and guidance for the population were also issued. People should avoid:
- prolonged exposure to cold, especially during the early hours of the morning and early in the day;
- use of embers and stoves in closed environments, to prevent the risk of poisoning;
- redouble attention to children, the elderly and people with chronic illnesses.
