The minister (Agrarian Development) called the director of Public Policies for the Executive Branch of , Wanderley Mariz, questioning the company about the takedown of 47 accounts linked to pelo , a platform that belongs to big tech.

In a video posted on a social network this Sunday (19), Teixeira states that he was questioning Meta about the reasons for taking down the profiles of associations that offer medicinal cannabis treatment and activists who deal with the issue.

“I asked this question because it characterizes censorship and I want to know if this censorship comes from the company itself or if there is a court decision”, says the minister.

“If it comes from the company itself, I have asked for these accounts to be reestablished. Otherwise, we will ask for judicial protection for the reestablishment of these accounts on Instagram, because the lack of them harms Brazilian society and patients who inform themselves and seek treatment with these associations,” he said.

According to the minister’s office, after questioning, Meta reestablished 20 accounts, without detailing the reason, but confirming that there was no court order.

When contacted by the Panel, Meta did not comment.
