Illa: “In Palestine, there will be no peace without justice, without memory, without human values”
Salvador Illa, president of the Generalitat of Catalonia, recalled this Monday that peace “is much more than the absence of war.” “It means having food every day. It means being able to sleep indoors, so that children can go to school. In Palestine, there will be no peace without justice, without memory, without human values. Peace is not a business, it is a duty of all of us towards those who suffer from war,” he said.
“Europe will continue to be strong to the extent that it remains faithful to its founding values,” he recalled. “This Europe was not born by chance. It was born from courage. Values cannot be words on a piece of paper. They are the foundations of the EU. It is up to us to be brave as the founders of the EU were. It is time for the EU to be a true federal union.”
