Councilors from , especially from the base of , have agreed to establish a CPI (Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry) so that the issues, in Pinheiros, with the municipality and possible omission of public authorities can be investigated.
A request to open the CPI, articulated by councilor Gilberto Nascimento Júnior (PL), was delivered to, at the end of August.
“The Jockey Club of São Paulo is located on the banks of the Pinheiros River and is part of a sensitive territory from the point of view of urban policy and the protection of cultural heritage, which requires maximum transparency in the signing of instruments, in the transfer of construction potential, in the allocation of counterparts and in the execution of preservation conditions”, wrote Nascimento Júnior.
“Therefore, it is necessary to determine the legal and regulatory compliance of transfers of construction potential linked to the listed property, the correlation between amounts collected and the intended public purposes, the possible existence of misuse of purpose or inadequate allocation of resources.”
The matter entered the House’s list of priorities after UOL showed that the club used money from tax incentives from the federal and municipal governments for dinners and personal expenses in pharmacies and hotels.
“The allegations of millionaire embezzlement reinforce the need for an investigation into the Jockey, its administration and whose interests they are serving. We are talking about more than R$80 million that should serve the historical heritage”, says councilor Rubinho Nunes (União Brasil).
Last year, placing the hippodrome among the 186 public parks proposed for the capital, which makes it easier for the Executive to declare the property’s public utility.
