British Prime Minister Keir Starmer is expected to host a meeting of the so-called Coalition of the Willing in London on Friday the 24th, a group of countries preparing to send an international force to monitor a possible ceasefire in Ukraine, according to the British press. The meeting will be attended by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and French President Emmanuel Macron, and takes place amid intense diplomatic negotiations on the conflict.

According to The Telegraph, the European Union is also discussing speeding up the approval of a 140 billion euro loan to Kiev, guaranteed by frozen Russian assets. The financing, which could help pay for arms shipments to Ukraine, is expected to be confirmed during the EU leaders’ summit scheduled for Thursday in Brussels – the day before the meeting in London.

The head of EU Foreign Affairs and Security, Kaja Kallas, said today that the bloc remains determined to support Kiev and contain Moscow. “We see President Trump’s efforts to bring peace to Ukraine, and all of these efforts are welcome, but we don’t see Russia wanting peace,” he said. According to her, “Russia only negotiates when it is really forced to negotiate”.

Kallas added that the EU is also discussing new sanctions against the so-called shadow fleet – a fleet of oil tankers used by Moscow to circumvent restrictions – to increase pressure on Russia.
