Banská Bystrica – Almost one and a half years after the assassination attempt on Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico, the assassin Juraj C. was sentenced to 21 years in prison on Tuesday. The 72-year-old was accused of terrorism. The man fired several shots at Fico on May 15, 2024 in the small town of Handlová. He was arrested immediately after the crime. Fico had to undergo two operations following the incident and was unable to carry out his duties for two months. (APA, October 21, 2025)
