Governor of Pará and host of , Helder Barbalho (MDB) says that the event does not affect the image of the environmental conference, which begins in less than 20 days.

“The correct timing is that of security for decision making. Neither the government nor the company [] they must be guided by the convenience of a scenario. What should guide the decision, yes or no, is having exhaustively taken into account all the conditions for this”, he declared.

As shown by Sheeton the eve of a conference whose main theme will be the energy transition.

For Helder, the environmental agency’s decision is not political, but administrative and technical. “She followed an extremely long, exhausting rite.”

The endorsement, says the emedebista, is for research in the region, not the exploration itself. “One cannot confuse one thing with another. After researching, there are two decisions to be made: the first is the exploration plan and the second is Brazil’s sovereign decision, whether or not it will want to use this asset, which is the country’s heritage, in light of its energy supply strategy.”

The governor adds that no country in the world today is self-sufficient in renewable energy so as not to use fossil fuels

“No country has the authority to point the finger at our country. Brazil currently depends on fossil fuels, including to make the energy transition”, he says.
