The intention is to reinforce the regional character of the former minister’s return to the party, with a focus on the dispute for the government of Ceará, next year.
The return of Ciro, who was part of the party in the 1990s, is scheduled for this Wednesday (22), in Fortaleza.
None of the party’s most prominent national figures are expected to attend, such as the party’s current president, Marconi Perillo, and federal deputy Aecio Neves (MG),
The articulation for Ciro’s return was led by former senator Tasso Jereissati, who was his political godfather at the beginning of his career.
The regional focus aims to avoid speculation that Ciro could be a candidate for president next year, a position he has already run for four times.
His return to the party is being seen as a welcome reinforcement, after the departure of several members in recent years. The expectation is that Ciro will be competitive against governor Elmano de Freitas (PT), who will seek re-election, and help elect federal and state deputies.
