The Women’s Assistance Police Station (Deam) concluded, at the beginning of this week, the police investigation into the femicide of Ionara Nazaré da Silva, aged 29, shot dead inside her home by her husband, the 2nd lieutenant of the paid reserve of the Military Police, Reginaldo de Freitas Rodrigues, aged 56. The crime occurred in the early hours of September 27, on Rua da Maçã, Mocinha Magalhães neighborhood, in Rio Branco, in front of the couple’s two daughters, aged 3 and 7.

According to Deam’s report, the soldier was indicted for feminicide, a crime whose expected penalty ranges from 20 to 40 years in prison. The inquiry was initially sent to the 2nd Court of the Jury and Military Audit, along with the request to convert the provisional detention into preventive detention.

During the analysis of the case, judge Álesson Braz determined the redistribution of the case after a statement from the Public Prosecutor’s Office, recognizing the jurisdiction of the 1st Jury Court, responsible for the custody hearing that decreed the provisional arrest of the accused.
According to the investigation, witnesses reported that, before the shooting, there was an argument between the couple. The soldier used a .40 caliber pistol to commit the crime and then fled the scene. Residents of the region claimed to have seen the suspect walking on a public street with the gun in his hands shortly after the homicide.
The Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu) was called, but the victim was already lifeless when the teams arrived. The Legal Medical Institute (IML) removed the body.
Reginaldo remained at large for two days and then voluntarily presented himself to Deam, where he was formally indicted. During the testimony, he remained silent, and the motivation for the crime has not yet been clarified.

Samu was called, but upon arriving at the residence, the victim was already dead. The body was removed by the Legal Medical Institute (IML). After two days on the run, Reginaldo voluntarily presented himself to Deam, where he was formally indicted.
The motivation for the crime has not yet been clarified, as the soldier chose to remain silent during the interrogation.
