Photo of the Minister of Culture Martina Šimkovičová (54) caused a much bigger stir than anyone would have expected. The shot that she published on the social network was taken during the gala evening on the occasion of the presentation of the Minister of Culture Awards for the year 2024. One thing caught people’s eyes. Former SuperStar participant Jakub Petranik in connection with the image, he told the head of the department that it does not need to be modified significantly with filters.
“Mother, aside from the fact that you are a disaster for culture, but finally stop employing people who feel that you need this kind of photo editing. You’re really not some slob to need this,” said the singer.
Petra Demková, Director of the Communications Department of the Ministry of the Interior of the Slovak Republic, flatly rejected the use of filters right under that post. “It’s purely professional makeup, yes, which is very expressive, plus a professional photographer. Let’s all calm down,” she responded to the status. However, the subsequent comments and response sparked a heated argument, which you can read about
The former director of the SND, Matej Drlička, whom she dismissed in August 2024, surprisingly defended the minister on social networks. “Minister Martina Šimkovičová is a frequent target of insults directed at her physical appearance. After the award ceremony of the Minister of Culture, the Internet exploded again. They say he uses too many filters on his photos, he says he has short legs, he says he has inappropriate shoes and a tasteless wardrobe,” he described the comments circulating on social networks.
“These insults often come from people who support democratic principles, the pro-Western direction of Slovakia and demand a return to decency from politicians. I consider these attacks on Martina Šimkovičová’s appearance not only out of place and rude, but also dangerous,” he thinks. You can find Drlička’s entire statement.
His words also reached the head of the department of culture, who decided to send him a public message on the social network. “I thank Matej Drliček for standing up for me as a woman in his post. I appreciate that, despite different opinions, he was able to separate the personal level from objective criticism.” Šimkovičová’s sincere words sounded on Facebook.
The minister’s thanks did not leave Jakub Petraník cold, who reacted to the photo first. “And he won’t thank me for the compliment. At the same time, I pointed out that she really doesn’t need such unnecessary deepfake editing of photos.” the musical dramaturg commented on Šimkovičová’s status. “He is preparing a pamphlet (short, derogatory or offensive written work, editor’s note) for you!” fan Kristina wrote back to him.
