The region’s largest test of digital competences shows that young people are digitally literate but still struggle with teamwork, interpreting data and using office tools. This follows from the latest results of the IT Fitness Test, which were presented on Tuesday by the Digital Coalition together with representatives of the state sector.
- The testing showed the digital literacy of young people in the region.
- Identified weaknesses include teamwork and office tools.
- In Slovakia, testing achieved an average success rate of 55.09%.
- Slovak high school students achieved the best results in the V4 countries.
- More than 205,000 respondents participated in the testing.
“Digital education is today the basis of the country’s competitiveness. If we want Slovakia to keep up with the most advanced countries, we must give young people more than just access to technology. We must lead them to understand creativity and responsibility in their use,” said Minister of Investments, Regional Development and Informatization of the SR Samuel Migaľ (independent).
The average success rate of Slovak pupils aged seven to 16 reached 55.09% in the testing, with the best results achieved in the Internet (64.13%) and security (67.68%) categories. They showed the lowest success rate in the category of office tools (39.07%). Pupils who took the test for secondary schools achieved the best average result among the V4 countries, namely 58.69%. Respondents older than 15 years were most successful in the area of security (69.15%) and had the weakest results also in the area of office tools (49.25%).
“This test is set up so that its success rate at optimal settings is roughly 50-60%,” explained the chairman of the Digital Coalition, Mário Lelovský. “So the results are good, I would say very good,” he concluded.
According to the Digital Coalition, the test results confirm that Slovak students are successful in recognizing security risks and simply searching for information, but they have reserves in finding connections, solving unknown situations, working in a team and understanding texts and data.
More than 205,000 respondents from the countries of the Vyšehrad Group (V4) took part in the 14th edition of the IT Fitness Test 2025. Historically, the highest participation was in Poland, which became the leader in the number of involved participants with more than 70,000 tested. More than 66,000 people took the test in Slovakia, of which more than 60,000 were primary and secondary school students. More than 5,000 teachers in the Slovak Republic also participated in the testing.
