Last week, the Attorney General of the Republic, Paulo Gonet, called for the defendants to be convicted. In his justification, Gonet directly associated the fake news campaign promoted by the group with the violent attacks that took place in Brasília.

According to the head of the PGR, there was a “strategic management of knowingly false information as an instrument of social destabilization”. For him, “the popular revolt seen at the end of the iter criminis (path of crime) has a causal relationship with the plot generated and fueled by the action of this group of accused”.
