The firefighter who attacked the woman in Machico was accused by the Public Ministry of “two crimes of domestic violence”. According to the accusation, the couple had been divorced since August 2025, the month in which he was filmed attacking his wife in front of their son.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office (MP) brought charges against the Machico firefighter for committing “two crimes of committed against his wife and his 9-year-old son”.
In a statement, the MP says that, according to the prosecution, during the early hours of August 24, 2025, defendant “he went to a house in Água de Pena” where the victims lived and “violently attacked the woman in the presence of her son” what “not only did he repeatedly ask his father to stop the behavior, but he even put himself between him and his mother to protect her”.
The attack was filmed by a video surveillance camera and shared on social media. At the time, the victim had to be hospitalized and was placed under police protection..
Still according to the accusation, the marriage had lasted since 2010, but since the beginning of August 2025 they were separated. However, in the month before the separation, things happened “arguments between the couple, one of which ended with the defendant attacking the woman, hitting her in the face with a cell phone.”
