According to Quaest research released this Tuesday (21), 63% of mentions surrounding the environmental license for oil exploration in the Equatorial Margin of the Amazon are neutral, 27% negative and 10% positive.
The data was collected between October 8th and 21st, 2025.
The volume of mentions reached its peak last Monday (20), exceeding 8 thousand interactions in a single day, driven by the announcement of Ibama’s authorization for the drilling of an exploratory well in block FZA-M-059,
In a statement, Petrobras highlighted that exploration focuses on seeking geological information and evaluating whether there is oil and gas in the area on an economic scale. “There is no oil production at this stage”, he informed.
