Democracy Index: Austria’s democracy continues to deteriorate

Vienna – According to the Democracy Index, the state of democracy in Austria has deteriorated significantly in the areas of fundamental rights, civil society and the media. The index describes the state and development of democratic indicators in Austria once a year and was presented on Wednesday at a press conference in Vienna. Seven institutions of democracy are assessed: sovereign, parties, legislature, executive, judiciary, media and civil society.
