The National Association of Young Entrepreneurs (ANJE) announced that 24 startups were selected to represent the regional ecosystem at the Web Summit Lisboa 2025, within the scope of the Algarve Empreende 2026 project, co-financed by the Algarve 2030 Regional Program.
According to the organization, these companies are part of the Startup Island Algarve Tech Hub initiative, which guarantees them a collective exhibition space and an exclusive day of presentations during the event, “with the aim of increasing their visibility among investors, partners and specialized media”.
Among those selected, four Algarve startups were recognized by the Web Summit with the “Impact Startup” seal, a distinction that values projects with a strong social, environmental or economic component, aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
The distinguished companies — Invisible CFO, AuroraMed, ExpressTec and FarmAssist — represent “examples of how the Algarve is asserting itself as an innovative, entrepreneurial region committed to creating solutions with real impact”.
For , “the presence of these startups at Web Summit Lisboa 2025 represents a strategic opportunity to position Algarve talent and innovation on a global stage”.
More than a technological showcase, “this participation translates into a concrete step in the mission of Algarve Empreende 2026: supporting the creation of innovative companies, strengthening the region’s entrepreneurial capacity and connecting the local ecosystem to international innovation networks”.
The distinguished projects:
Invisible CFO
The only Portuguese fintech recognized as an “Impact Startup” in 2025, Invisible CFO develops a hybrid financial management platform for SMEs, which combines artificial intelligence with personalized human advice. It has already supported dozens of companies in the transition to more informed and sustainable management, and is now preparing to expand internationally with new public financing support.
AuroraMed
This Algarve healthtech creates solutions based on artificial intelligence for the healthcare sector, with emphasis on clinical decision support systems, interoperability between healthcare units and medical data protection. The company is currently working on developing a healthcare “Digital Twin” — a digital replica of each patient’s clinical status — with the potential to revolutionize personalized medicine.
ExpressTec
A spin-off from the University of Algarve, ExpressTec operates in the biotechnology sector and develops diagnostic tests based on RNA and artificial intelligence, focusing on the personalized treatment of oncological diseases. Its main product, expressPIK, allows mutations in breast tumors to be identified with high precision, helping doctors make more effective therapeutic decisions. The startup has already received several international awards and is preparing to scale its technology.
FarmAssist
Focused on therapeutic adherence, FarmAssist offers a complete and personalized pharmaceutical support service, with home deliveries, prescription renewals, appointment scheduling and monitoring of therapeutic plans. Through a “FarmaKit” delivered to the user, the startup ensures that each patient follows their treatment correctly, promoting better health results, especially among aging populations with little mobility.
