Coach Hansi Flick was suspended for one game by the Spanish Federation Competition Committee and is at risk of being left off the bench in the classic between Real Madrid and Barcelona, to be held next Sunday (26). The punishment was confirmed this Wednesday after the coach’s expulsion in the match against Girona, last Saturday.
Flick received the second yellow card in stoppage time, minutes before Ronald Araújo’s goal, which guaranteed the team’s 2-1 victory.

Barcelona tries to appeal the decision again
The Committee has already rejected the allegations made by Barcelona to try to avoid the sanction. The entity considered that the club did not present sufficient evidence to contradict what was reported in the summary by referee Gil Manzano. As a result, the one-game suspension was maintained.
Still, Barcelona did not give up trying to release the coach. The club must appeal to the Appeal Committee to reverse the punishment and guarantee the German’s presence on the bench against their biggest rival. If the organization maintains the suspension, Flick will watch the game from the stands.
Who will lead Barça in El Clásico?
This is Hansi Flick’s second expulsion since taking charge of Barcelona. If the Court of Appeals upholds the decision, the person who will lead the team from the bench will be Marcus Sorg, the German’s assistant coach since his selection days.
Sorg, who has already replaced Flick on other occasions, must follow the main commander’s tactical instructions. The club is betting on continuing its work to try to contain Real Madrid, in a direct duel for the leadership of LaLiga.

Important absences from Barcelona
In addition to Hansi Flick, Barcelona has six absences due to physical problems, which increases the team’s challenge for the classic at the Santiago Bernabéu. Among the confirmed absences are Lewandowski, with an injury to the femoral biceps of his left thigh, and Raphinha, with a problem in his right hamstring.
Other important names also remain in the medical department: Gavi (rupture of the internal meniscus of the right knee), Dani Olmo (injury to the soleus muscle of the right leg), Ter Stegen (complete rupture of the patellar tendon of the right knee) and Joan García (rupture of the medial meniscus of the left knee).
