Vegetable salad is an extremely popular salad in Poland, prepared from boiled vegetables, eggs, mayonnaise and other additives. Few people imagine holidays or other festive occasions without this salad. Is tasty and extremely filling – it is an indispensable dish on the Christmas or Easter table.
There are many variants vegetable salad – almost every Polish family has a different way of preparing it. Although individual versions of this popular dish may differ slightly, in each case after the first bite you can recognize that we are dealing with vegetable salad.
Preparing vegetable salad many people may wonder Can you add onion to it?. Many culinary authorities strongly defer this ingredient. Magda Gessler emphasizes that this vegetable, due to its strong aroma, it can ruin the taste of the salad.
Instead of onion, to vegetable salad we can add chives. This ingredient will make the dish taste more distinctive and the whole thing will look more colorful.

- 5 medium-sized potatoes;
- 3 carrots;
- 2 parsley (root);
- 5 hard-boiled eggs;
- 4 pickled cucumbers;
- 1 large can of canned peas (400 ml);
- 4-5 tablespoons of mayonnaise;
- 1 tablespoon of natural yogurt;
- 2 teaspoons of mustard;
- salt and pepper.
Preparation method:
- First, prepare a large pot, pour water into it and add two teaspoons of salt. Then cook peeled potatoes, carrots and parsley in it. When the vegetables are soft, let them cool down a bit and cut everything into cubes.
- Place the cooked vegetables in a large bowl. Now take care of the eggs – hard-boil them, let them cool and chop them into cubes. Add to previously prepared vegetables. Drain the canned peas and add the rest of the ingredients. Cut the pickled cucumbers into cubes and put them in a bowl.
- Take a second, slightly smaller bowl and mix mayonnaise, mustard and yogurt. Then pour the resulting mixture over the chopped ingredients and mix everything thoroughly. Season everything with salt and pepper, and finally put the salad in the fridge for at least an hour.
Ready vegetable salad you can decorate with finely chopped dill or parsley. This specialty is best served with bread.
