The Italian Public Ministry issued a favorable opinion on the extradition of federal deputy Carla Zambelli (PL-SP), according to the AGU (Attorney General of the Union).
The congresswoman fled to Italy in early June to escape the ten-year prison sentence ordered by the (Supreme Federal Court). She was accused of participating in the invasion of the (National Council of Justice) system to issue a false arrest warrant against Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the STF.
His extradition was requested by the Brazilian government. The Court of Appeal is awaiting the Italian Attorney General’s opinion on the case to schedule a new hearing, in which the existence or not of requirements for Zambelli to be sent to Brazil will be assessed. The final say will rest with the Italian government, through the Ministry of Justice.
