The minimum temperature recorded was 11.3°C at 3:25 am at Alto da Boa Vista station, according to the Alerta Rio System
The city of dawned last Tuesday (21) with temperatures well below what Cariocas are used to at this time of year. According to the Rio Alert System, the minimum temperature recorded this morning was 11.3°C at 3:25 am at Alto da Boa Vista station. This is considered the lowest temperature of the decade for the month of October in the entire historical series of the Rio city government’s meteorology body, which began measuring in 2014.
The approach and passage of a continent that was in the city last weekend contributed to the decline in temperatures during the last two mornings, as well as the transport of humidity. Meteorologist Mayara Villela, from Sistema Alerta Rio, explains that humid winds coming from the ocean, associated with the positioning of a high pressure system, influenced the weather in the city of Rio, contributing to the drop in temperatures. However, it is not unusual during spring.
“Spring is a transition season that presents some characteristics similar to winter at the beginning and gaining characteristics of more towards the end. In it, the days get longer and the nights get shorter, compared to winter. There are still cold fronts that can drop temperatures, as well as hot days and rain showers at the end of the day”, explained Mayara. From this Wednesday (22nd), minimum temperatures should show a slight increase, with a reduction in cloudiness during the days and maximum temperatures varying between 27°C and 30°C.
